Article: Minimalism or Natural Running?

Minimalism or Natural Running?

Wearing minimalist shoes implies Natural Running, but Natural Running doesn't imply minimalism. Running in minimalist shoes or barefoot uses the same technique as running with Naw shoes, as the drop under your feet will be zero millimeters, and you'll have enough room to spread your toes.

But the Natural Run also encompasses running in footwear that improves comfort and dynamic stride adaptability. These footwear also uses stable materials and thin soles that don't disrupt natural gait. Furthermore, NAW sports shoes use the protection, support, and technical materials provided by technical athletic shoes.

The concept of natural running refers to the way our feet should land when running, using a technique similar to that of our naturally barefoot feet. To do this, we must understand the following concepts:

  • The words "minimalism," "barefoot," and "barefoot" refer to a type of footwear that doesn't interfere with your natural physiological gait; it doesn't correct or modify your body's natural functioning.
  • Another concept is the forefoot strike, which in a natural running technique would be the appropriate strike, allowing the weight to fall on the metatarsals.
  • Furthermore, talking about natural running is talking about efficiency and effectiveness, since this technique generates a stride that requires less effort from the leg muscles since it is a natural run adapted to the physiology of our own body; your body is designed with the latest technology.
  • And finally, the "drop" refers to the height between the forefoot and the heel, so having zero drop ensures a drop from your natural stride since it does not raise any part more than another, avoiding interfering with your stride.

Natural running has become a strong and popular trend thanks to the global trend focused on health and wellness, as running shoes that focus on developing technologies that modify our natural physiology, whether correcting or enhancing, do not work in alignment with our body's natural performance.

In natural running, our biomechanics adapt perfectly to our dynamic adaptability. Moving with the metatarsals as the primary support for supporting weight and propelling forward helps keep the joints and spine free from impact, eliminating the need for additional technologies, since our bodies naturally function in perfect alignment.

At Naw, we strive to offer the best healthy athletic footwear while maintaining minimal fitness levels of around 90%. To achieve this, we work with specialized podiatrists and biomechanists who help us develop our innovations.
